New Zealand battled back from a four-point pre-event penalty to win the first ever Singapore Sail Grand Prix, overcoming tricky conditions to defeat Denmark and Australia in the winner-takes-all Final.

The Kiwis left Nicolai Sehested’s Danes and Tom Slingsby’s Aussies trailing in their wake and wowed crowds with a 100% fly time, average speed of 53 km/h and top speed of 77.1 km/h in the event-deciding encounter.

It marks the third event win of the season for New Zealand, whose achievement is even more impressive considering they began the event on minus four points for colliding with the United States in a practice session.
