Joan Cardona is one of the few active Spanish sailors with an Olympic medal. The Spaniard won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the Finn class. Joan's story is that of a young man who has sacrificed a lot for his passion, sailing, alternating between stays on the island of Menorca and Mallorca to perfect his technique from a young age.

At just six years old, Cardona began sailing at the Club Marítimo de Mahón, under the influence of his father, who instilled in him his love for sailing. His connection with the sea was established from an early age, even making sailing trips at the age of just one month. Throughout his career, Cardona has shown exceptional determination, competing in events such as the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofía since he was 15, thus being the youngest sailor to participate. His recent success as a Finn world runner-up and his performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics make him one of the standout athletes in the nautical world.
