SailGP
Joining the elite SailGP circuit was a remarkable opportunity for Amelie Riou, who always has a close eye on performance, technology and speed, together with the technical work required on the boat.

An extremely hard worker, she brings to the France team a positive attitude and a willingness to always see things through to the end.

Amelie would also like to focus her energy on the social side of the discipline by educating children about the values learned through sport, namely teamwork and dedication.

Youth
Although she was born into a family of farmers, Amélie started sailing at 7 years of age on an Optimist and soon earned a reputation as a go-getter, even in extreme conditions.

Career
She became the French number two ‘Espoir’ in 2009, French champion in France 2010 and 6th in the world ISAF ranking in Turkey in 2010, before joining the French France Espoir team in 2012. She took part in her first Olympic campaign on a Laser Radial as reserve, followed by a second campaign on a foiling Nacra 17 in the mixed doubles category. In 2020, she launched a 49er FX bid for another campaign in the women’s doubles format.

Personal
A math fanatic, Riou has also earned a degree in civil engineering.
